Sukarjo Wiryopranoto

Sukarjo Wiryopranoto was born on June 5, 1903 in Kesugihan, Cilacap, Central Java. In the political field, he co-founded the Persatuan Bangsa Indonesia (PBI/National Association of Indonesia) with dr. Sutomo and be a member of Party of Indonesia Raya (Parindra). In 1934, he founded a youth village who train the youth to be an expert wood, iron experts, agricultural experts and so on.

Then Sukarjo Wiryopranoto was appointed to be theSecretary of the Political Association of Indonesia. Sukarjo was also active in the field of journalism and led newspaper "Asian" (Japanese time) and foster “Mimbar” Indonesia magazine after the independence of Indonesia. He was assigned also as the Ambassador in Vietnam, Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Italy for the PRC. In 1962 he was appointed as the Permanent Representative of Indonesia to the United Nations.

Sukarjo Wiryopranoto died in New York on October 23, 1962 and was buried in Taman Makam Pahlawan Kalibata (Heroes Cemetery Kalibata), Jakarta.
